Capable Kids, LLC is a pediatric speech therapy clinic dedicated to serving the needs of Alaska’s children with communication delays. We provide high-quality, individualized, and consistent speech and language services tailored to each child. Our team is committed to making therapy a fun and productive experience, with benefits that carry over into all areas of daily life—at home, at school, and in the community.
Our clinic is located at 600 West 41st Avenue, Suite 102–103, in Anchorage, Alaska. We share a space with an occupational therapy clinic, giving many families the added convenience of accessing both speech and occupational therapy services in one location. Michelle brings over 25 years of experience as a speech-language pathologist serving children across Alaska. She earned her bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from the University of Alaska Fairbanks in 1996, followed by a Master’s in Communication Disorders from the University of Wyoming in 1998. Michelle began her career working in school districts in Anchorage and Juneau before opening her private practice in 2004.
She has extensive experience working with children ages one to twenty-one with a wide range of communication needs. Michelle has a special interest in phonological disorders and in supporting toddlers with developmental delays. She is passionate about celebrating the progress and achievements of the children she works with—alongside their families—every step of the way.
Outside the clinic, Michelle enjoys exploring the outdoors with her husband, three children, and their dog, making the most of all that Alaska has to offer.
Lynn has been working in the field of education since 1992. She began her career in a daycare setting, then worked as a paraprofessional supporting students with special needs at the junior high she once attended. Lynn earned her Bachelor of Health Science in 1996 and her Master of Health Science in Communication Disorders in 2000, both from Governors State University in University Park, Illinois.
She spent two years serving students in a special education cooperative in Illinois before moving to Alaska to join the Anchorage School District in 2002. Lynn began working in private practice with Michelle in 2005 and has enjoyed collaborating closely with children and their families ever since.
Lynn has a strong interest in augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), autism, language disorders, and cognitive delays. She believes that every person—regardless of ability—has something to say, and she is passionate about helping each client find their voice and communicate their thoughts and feelings.
Outside of work, Lynn enjoys quilting, curling, biking, dipnetting, and exploring Alaska with her family. She and her husband, Jonathan, have two children.She has extensive experience working with children ages one to twenty-one with a wide range of communication needs.
